Teaching and Learning at Colegio Santa Ursula

Wednesday was our last full day at our sister school, Colegio Santa Ursula in Ribeirao Preto, so we wanted to make the most of it. This was the day that our teachers, Ms. Clark and Ms. Francis, each taught a lesson in the high school. Ms. Clark, our physics teacher, taught a lesson about waves while Ms. Francis, art teacher, taught a lesson about water color. Both teachers found the Santa Ursula students to be curious, engaged and very intelligent. It was also a pleasant surprise to find some of our own Dallas students attending the physics class with their host sisters. Indeed, one of the great benefits of our sister school relationships is the opportunity for our faculty members to meet and exchange ideas. This visit was no exception as we learned so much from being together in the classroom (and in the teacher's lounge)!

Later in the afternoon, it was time for all of us to be students. Colegio Santa Ursula arranged for us to have a Portuguese language class with teachers Marcio and Cristiane. We sang a song, learned some awesome food-related vocabulary and learned how to conjugate regular present tense verbs. All of the information has been immensely useful and we have made great use of our favorite phrases such as "Eu gosto de comer brigadeiro" (I love eating brigadeiro - which is our favorite Brazilian chocolate dessert).

Thank you, Colegio Santa Ursula for a perfect school day!
