Australia Presentation dazzles UA Dallas!

Oh what a marvelous presentation we enjoyed today at UA! Our Australian sisters prepared a wonderful program for us which included films and fun facts about Australia and St. Ursula's college as well as several beautiful songs (like the one below).

The choir from Australia collaborated with our UA Dallas Concert choir and the result was fabulous! So much talent at both schools!!

The presentation concluded what can only be described as a near-perfect week of friendship, learning and laughter. We loved having our Aussie sisters (and teachers) with us in Dallas and we cannot wait to see them again!!

Texas Fun in Ft. Worth

Today our Australian guests had a real taste of Texas as they visited our sister-city to the west, Ft. Worth. They visited the historical Stockyards where they ran into a friend from home  - an Australian cowboy in Texas!  The tour of the Stockyards was followed by a Cattle drive through the Stockyards where they came face-to-face with the mighty Longhorn cows, true symbols of Texas! Our Aussie sisters enjoyed an authentic Texas lunch at Risky's BBQ before heading over to the Cowgirl museum. All in all, a spectacular day in the Lone Star State!

Big Day in Big D!

Today we introduced our Australian sisters to some of the important history of Dallas and of the United States. It was their first official "Dallas" Day! The day began with a wonderful introduction to the history of Dallas with native Dallasite, Ms. Melinda Smith. Ms. Smith teaches journalism at UA and she took a few minutes to speak to the girls about what life was like in Dallas during the time of the Kennedy assassination and the years following.

After the wonderful introduction to Dallas from Ms. Smith, our guests were ready to see the sites! Their first stop was the George W. Bush Presidential Library. The students enjoyed the museum and learned a great deal about President Bush and this part of recent American history.

After the Bush Library, our guests were ready for a typical Dallas lunch so we went to Snuffer's for the best hamburgers and cheddar fries in Dallas!

Fortified for the afternoon, the students were ready to visit the 6th Floor museum, the museum dedicated to the legacy of JFK in the exact location where President Kennedy was assassinated. The girls were very curious about JFK and the important role of the Kennedy family in the USA.

What a wonderful day!!!!! Much love from Big D!

School Day with our Australian sisters!

Although this Monday began with clouds and rain, our hearts were filled with sunshine as we officially welcomed our Australian guests to Ursuline Academy of Dallas. The students began by introducing themselves to our student body on the PA system. Then, they went on an official tour of the school and later to classes and lunch with their host sisters. It did not take any time at all for our Australian sisters to blend right in as though they had always been with us. Today we enjoyed lots of conversation, snacks and laughs!  This was a fantastic day and only the first of many wonderful days to come!
