Farewell dear friends!!

Oh what a crying / laughing commotion we caused at DFW airport this morning! It was a very difficult morning for our host families and our Brazilian delegation as we were forced to say goodbye (for now). The visit was wonderful and this special group will live in our hearts forever. We are already missing you and are looking forward to visiting Brazil in March!!

A look back at Brazil in Dallas

It's hard to believe that the day to say farewell to our Brazilian brothers and sisters has already arrived. What a glorious, and often hilarious, exchange we had! So many things happened these last few days - It's impossible to share them all but here is a look back at some of our favorite moments from this last week...

Brazil Presentation

On Wednesday, we were privileged to learn all about Brazil from our visiting delegation. The Colegio Santa Ursula students gave a fantastic presentation in the KIVA. They told us all about themselves, their school and Brazil. And, of course, they taught us a popular Brazilian dance and we learned a few new dance moves. It was so much fun and also really informative. Thanks so much to our guests for preparing such a wonderful presentation for us!

Leadership Training with Matt Nink of GYLI

On Tuesday, we were privileged to have Matt Nink, Director of GYLI (Global Youth Leadership Institute) with us at Ursuline. Our Brazilian guests joined our UA club leaders for a 1-day seminar on leadership, identity and culture. It was a great day of interaction and introspection. Our favorite part was laughing together and also enjoying a special lunch at St. Ursula Hall.

Ft. Worth, Texas

Today our Brazilian delegation visited the near-by city of Ft. Worth, Texas. Ft. Worth is known as the city "where the West begins" and is famous for cowboys and its friendly residents. Our guests enjoyed seeing an authentic cattle drive which included the famous Texas "Longhorn" cattle. Then, after a Texas BBQ lunch, they visited the one and only "Billy Bob's Texas"  for a dance lesson Texas-style. Everyone agreed that it was a wonderful day and that they really got to experience Texas life in Ft. Worth!

Peace Day Dallas Awareness Adventure

Happy Peace Day! Today is the official International Day of Peace and, for the first time, there was a huge Peace Day event held in Dallas. The event was called Peace Day Dallas Awareness Adventure and was sponsored by the Dallas Holocaust Museum and Children's International Summer Villages (CISV). Both organizations are committed to bringing about world peace through education, understanding and friendship.Ms. Nipp, Ursuline's Director of Global Relationships, was one of eighteen local Peace Day honorees. So, it was a perfect activity for our UA Dallas host students to attend with their Brazilian brothers and sisters. Participants began their day at the Holocaust museum and, using an App on their phones, took a walking tour of downtown Dallas which highlighted important historical and cultural sites in our city.

Happy Peace Day!

After a few very warm hours walking through downtown, we were ready for a Texas-size lunch. So, our group traveled over the Margaret Hunt Bridge to Babbs Brothers' Barbecue - It was delicious and was a great ending to our day!!!
