Crepe Lesson in Vannes

Today was a busy day spent entirely at Lycée Notre-Dame la Ménimur. Our Vannes delegation met with Madame Pellerin for a lesson on making crèpes à la Bretagne. Mixing the batter was not too much of a problem, but it took some practice to get the amount of batter in the pan to be correct in order to make a true crèpe and not a pancake! Once the cooking was complete, each group chose their best crèpes for the plating process and adorned them with fruit, caramel, chocolate, jams, confitures, and sugar in preparation for the official inspection. What quickly followed was a crèpe eating frenzy – very delicious! In true chef fashion, everyone cleaned up their cooking stations and left content with the knowledge we can recreate crèpes back home.

Following lunch, the students practiced the presentation to be given to four English classes the next morning. Mr. Poellot returned to a math class of Monsieur Lemonnier, who had planned a little diversion for his students. Mr. Poellot acted as the class’s sub, and informed the students the class would be in English today. After completing about 20 minutes of the opening lesson, Monsieur Lemmonier entered and class was able to continue in French. Meanwhile, Mrs. Lavault and Mrs. Holmes attended a French class.
