Farewell Brescia House sisters!

This farewell morning came far too quickly for our UA hosts and their sisters from South Africa. There were many hugs and tears and it was quite a task pulling the girls apart (so sad). We had a wonderful exchange and we can't wait to see our South African sisters again !! We miss you already!

Serviam with our sisters

Today our UA Dallas host students joined their South African sisters in a morning of community service at the Brady center. The Brady center is a community center run by Catholic Charities which serves the elderly. Our students organized a very enthusiastic bingo game with prizes and our South African sisters brought candy from home to share with the Brady center senior citizens. The seniors loved the game, the prizes and interacting with the girls! It was so fun to join together in the spirit of Serviam!

After a typical American lunch at Chili's, hosts and guests spent the afternoon at the Dallas Arboretum, enjoying the Spring flowers as well as the last hours of our 2018 exchange together.

Friday at UA

On Friday morning, our Brescia House sisters joined us in a prayer service for Peace. It was a simple but beautiful service outside around the statue of the Sacred Heart. All gathered prayed for peace in the USA, in South Africa and around the world. It was a lovely way for us to join together! 

On Friday afternoon, UA students gathered in the KIVA to hear a presentation organized by our Brescia House sisters. We learned a great deal about South African geography, history and culture. 

Brescia House in classes at Ursuline Dallas

Today was a class day for our Brescia House sisters from South Africa. They attended 4 classes: Journalism, Math, Fitness and Arabic. Each class was a unique experience but all were filled with interactive lessons, specially designed for our guests. The day began with interviews by the Journalism "reporters" who will publish their interviews in an upcoming edition of UA's Bear Facts and ended with a lesson in the traditional Middle Eastern art of henna. It was a lovely day of learning and discovery with our South African sisters!
