Welcome to our Chilean Sisters!

Today was a day filled with all sorts of emotions as we were very sad to say goodbye to our Peruvian sisters while we were also thrilled to welcome our Chilean sisters. Our sisters from Colegio Santa Ursula arrived at 5 am this morning from Santiago, Chile. We greeted them before school and we did our best to keep them busy with welcome activities until they could finally go home to rest after school. Despite being tired, they were excited to see the school and to meet their host sisters. It was a joyful beginning to what we hope will be a fantastic visit!

Peru presentations WOW UA Dallas

The delegation from Peru has delighted the UA Dallas Community with two excellent presentations, one in English and one in Spanish. Both presentations were held in the KIVA and the topic of both was Peru. During the first presentation in English, the students talked about different regions in Peru that they themselves have visited. The Spanish language presentation was more of a general overview about Peru including a little about history, the currency, geography, typical foods, etc. Our UA Dallas students who study Spanish came prepared with many excellent questions. They enjoyed learning all of the interesting facts about Peru but the dance at the end of the presentation was especially enjoyable. Thank you to our Peruvian sisters for sharing so much about your country with us - You are very talented!

Peru Delegation Volunteers At St. Vincent de Paul

In the spirit of Serviam, our Peruvian guests wanted to contribute a few hours of community service while they are here in Dallas. Today they volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store, an agency of Catholic Charities which serves those in need. Our students organized clothing and shoes and were in awe of the enormous warehouse where donations are housed until they can be sorted. Thank you to our Peruvian guests for serving the needy in Dallas!

Peru delegation visits Fossil Rim

Today our Peruvian sisters ventured out west for a day in Glen Rose, Texas. They visited the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, a non-profit center specializing in captive breeding programs for indigenous and exotic endangered and threatened species of animals.  The students had a wonderful time getting out of the city and they learned a great deal about animal conservation!
