Loving Lima

Our Peru Delegation is having a wonderful time with our Peruvian sisters in Lima! Yesterday, the students spent their first day at school, having a tour, meeting some of the Ursuline sisters and attending a few classes with their hosts. They are already learning the school schedule and feeling at home. We can't wait to hear and see more!

AT&T Stadium and The North Texas Food Bank

Today our Guests from England had a busy day of touring, working and sharp contrasts. First, the group visited the AT&T (American) Football Stadium in Arlington, home of the American Football team, The Dallas Cowboys. They enjoyed the VIP tour which included a visit to the field, a suite, locker rooms and more. The giant size and lavish style of the stadium made quite an impression on the students.

After the tour and a quick stop for lunch, it was time for a different kind of experience - a Serviam experience!  The students volunteered at The North Texas Food Bank, a food bank which provides food to hundreds of agencies and thousands of families in need in North Texas. The group was hard at work all afternoon, sorting canned vegetables while learning more about the problem of hunger which faces so many people these days. The students were very tired but very gratified with the large impact that they were able to make in such a short time. In fact, several of them said that they hope to volunteer at a similar agency when they return to London (yay Serviam spirit!). All in all, it was a long but extremely rewarding and interesting day in Dallas!

Fossil Rim

Today the Wimbledon delegation and their Ursuline Dallas sisters left Dallas to spend the day in the Texas town of Glen Rose (which is about an hour and a half southwest of Dallas). The group visited the famous Fossil Rim Wildlife Park. As they toured the park, the students were delighted to encounter antelopes, deer, moose, giraffes and more! They were actually able to touch and feed the animals which was especially thrilling and exciting. No one was hurt (thankfully) and a few even received giraffe kisses. It was a wonderful and relaxing day deep in the heart of Texas!

Learning at UA

Today our Wimbledon guests had a busy day of classes and learning at our academy. First, they attended a special Math class with Ms. Chinuntdet where they learned how to make origami boxes (the girls were very skilled and precise in their folding - well done!). Then, they attended Journalism class where they were the first to review our hot-of-the-press beautiful 2014-15 yearbook (thank you, Ms. Smith!). They were also interviewed by the Journalism students, our "cub reporters", for an upcoming issue of the online Bear Facts. At the end of the day, we at UA Dallas were treated to a fantastic presentation organized by our guests. We learned all about England and about Ursuline High School. It was "Brilliant!"

Welcome to Peru!

Early this morning, our 2015 Peru delegation arrived in Lima! Despite the early hour, all at Colegio Santa Ursula were waiting for them with great enthusiasm. We are looking forward to hearing much more from this delegation once they get a little rest! Saludos a las hermanas Peruanas!

Wimbledon welcomed to UA Dallas campus

Friday was the first full day at school in Dallas for our Wimbledon sisters. We began the day with each student introducing herself to the entire school on the PA (the Dallas girls love hearing the lovely accents!). Then, the Wimbledon students had a proper tour of the school, given by two of Ursuline Dallas' finest student ambassadors. Our guest sisters received a few small souvenir UA Dallas-themed gifts and then each student had her picture taken for her photo ID and UA Dallas badge. We had a short orientation and then each student attended classes with her Dallas host sister. We had a fabulous first day together and we are looking forward to the days ahead!

Welcome Wimbledon sisters!

Today we welcomed our sisters from Ursuline High School in Wimbledon, England. After weeks of waiting, our UA hosts could not have been more excited! Even the first big rainfall of the season could not dampen our spirits as we waited at DFW airport. It's going to be a great week! Welcome to Texas!!
